On December 15th 2009, Boeing completed successfully the first testflight with the Boeing 787. The weight of this aircraft has been reduced significantly and - in combination with innovative engine technology - that results that this plane uses 20% less fuel and therefore emits 20% less.
The only Belgian airline having ordered this revolutionary aircraft is Jetairfly. The introduction of the “Dreamliner” will be the cherry on the cake in an ambitious fleet modernization programme. Thanks to this programme the Jetairfly medium-haul flight will use 7.5 million litres less fuel and reduce the emission of CO2 by 20 million kilograms this year.
The combination of “next generation” planes, high occupancy and an integrated sustainable philosophy make that Jetairfly uses less than 3.5litres fuel per 100 km per passenger. The fuel consumption and emissions are therefore significantly lower compared to driving alone in a car and equivalent to driving a car with two passengers.
